Will Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep add another notch to their belts of record numbers of noms?
Magic 8 Ball says: It is certain Nicholson has three previous wins out of 12 nominations, and Streep has two wins out of 13 nominations. He holds the male record for bids, and she holds the female. Both are practically guaranteed to add another nomination this year — Nicholson for playing the Machiavellian Mob boss in The Departed, and Streep for the hellish fashion boss in The Devil Wears Prada. “They are shoo-ins,” says film critic and author Emanuel Levy, proprietor of Emanuellevy.com. “It’s ironic that both of them should be nominated this year because they both hold the record.” They’re a lock on nominations, Levy says, but it’s not definite that they’ll win the final prize.
