Will living in a dusty apartment ruin electronics?

The dust per se will not do anything to the computer but the thermal insulation provided by it as it coats the fans and heatsinks will allow heat to build up on the components and very definitely do some harm! The case is designed for airflow through the front to back and there are fans on the processor/video card/power supply to aid this flow and to locally increase the thermal heat dissipation on the components. Dust will inhibit this process and must be shaken loose. Buy some ‘canned air’ from a photo shop or hardware store and open yr case up. Apply the nozzle to the inside, paying special attention to all the rotational fans (make sure the computer is off BTW! LOL). Scoosh liberally once a month if gets really bad and the temperature will remain nice and comfy for the electronics!
