That depends on the requirements of the specific job. I’ve worked in IT for nearly 15 years, in just about ever part (sysadmin, network admin, management, developer, cable-puller, etc), and I find that specific job requirements can vary widely from job to job. People with any Oracle experience are going to fetch attention and a somewhat-premium salary because the knowledge requirements are so high. I would take the training, but don’t worry about it getting in the way of landing a job later on…you already have the requisite Oracle experience for many jobs. You’re probably worked with a variety of oracle and third-party tools, and writing pl/sql scripts is an excellend skill to have. I’m sure an employer would look at the background and see the training as a way to advance your knowledge of your specialty.
