PSP games region-free, UMD movies locked By Charles Starrett | Posted on Mar 25, 2005 Region-Code-1For those paying attention to the back of your new PSP games, most of them sport a region-coding number (US is region one). Now that the US games are finally out, it’s officially been tested and confirmed that PSP games are not tied to the region the PSP came from. That means that those of you with new North American PSPs can play imported games from Japan on your new PSP. For the early adopters out there with Japanese versions of the PSP, you can run down to your local retailer and play any game you see on your unit. Sony didn’t leave the UMD movies unlocked, however, so there will be no interoperability between US movies and Japanese PSPs or vice versa.
