Will the guidelines be modified to allow staff grades, and clinical assistants to prescribe Intrathecal chemotherapy?
Answer Trust Chief Executives may issue specific written permission enabling a named staff grade to undertake prescibing. Such permission should not be given to SHOs Note: This advice is being issued in response to several queries since the guidance was issued, regarding the eligibility of staff grades to prescribe intrathecal chemotherapy. As the advice given above does NOT conform to the Toft Report, it is ESSENTIAL that Trust Chief Executives, who are responsible for Clinical Governance, should be fully involved in these decisions.
