Will the war in Iraq benefit the US economy?

The war, and the invasion of Iraq and teh continued US presence there has had huge effects on the US economy. Firstly, resources have been diverted to support of the war. Thousands of people have found jobs in the armament sector (defence, factories churning out weapons) and the armed service secotr (think Blackwater and other so called consultants). Furthermore, there has been an increase in the size of teh amred forces and these people sent to the front have to be paid. It can be argued that the war created job opportunities for the lower rung opf society. It has been said that the soldiers killed in Iraq were predominantly poor people. That probably also means that people recruited for the ‘job’ are also predominantly from the ‘poorer’ sections of the population. It is a fact that poorer people tend to save less than richer people (in terms of % of wages). Hence if wages are redistributed from the rich to the poor (hiring soldiers rather than spend money hiring engineers for highway
