Will UAVs become a permanent fixture in Strathclyde Polices rescue operations?
The decision to employ UAVs permanently rests with the Force Executive. Towards the end of the test period, I will summarise the effectiveness of the aircraft in terms of service provision, time saving efficiencies and safety features. Traditional mountain and marine rescue services can be very labour-intensive and costly. If the permanent use of UAVs creates operational cost savings and improves efficiency and the service we provide to the public, then it is worthy of consideration.
