First of all, it’s “Wrath of the Lich King” And no, you can’t play World of warcraft without playing Wrath of the Lich King, as the patches count as Burning Crusade/Wrath of the Lich King, technically. However, without installing the expansions fully and upgrading your account by using the CD key, then you will hit the level cap at level 60, and will be unable to access the content for the expansions.
