Will Wrigleys extra white gum actually make my teeth white?
Honestly no. In fact whitening toothpastes and mouthwashes aren’t a great source for tooth whitening either. The chemicals used to bleach your teeth have to sit on your teeth and be absorbed through your tooth enamel in order to create the whitening effect. Brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth for a few minutes a day isn’t long enough for a chemical to be absorbed and whiten your teeth. Another way to help keep your teeth white and shiny is to get regular cleanings at the dentists. I am amazed to see people that come in who haven’t had their teeth cleaned for years and a simple cleaning will brighten them up by buffing away stains. I will say though, The new Trident Extra gum does help keep tarter away which can lead to cavities, and it contains a chemical that helps build strong tooth enamel so if you are looking to chew gum for dental benefits I would recommend that.
