Will young people actually get out and vote for Obama?

I expect a record turnout amongst young people, but not an earth shattering record turnout. I expect it will be the day after the election or maybe two days later before they release a tally suggesting it was the largest turnout amongst young people. Every year there is a candidate that expects record turnouts amongst the newly energized youth. And every year there is a candidate waiting for the next election and making a new strategy. Howard Dean would have been the Democratic candidate 4 years ago had young people turned out to vote as much as other age demographics, or in the droves that they turned up in at rallies and in polls. Gore would have been our President 8 years ago if young people voted in proportion to other demographics. I don’t believe Obama is counting on young people exclusively, but they are making the race closer than polls are suggesting. If you look, the pollsters are attempting to account for this.
