Windows XP Service Pack 2 if I find that its more trouble than its worth?

You can usually peel Service Pack 2 off with XP’s built-in System Restore feature, as long as it was installed on top of an existing version of Windows XP. But System Restore will not work with a new computer that came with SP2 already installed because it will simply return the system to the way it was out of the box – with SP2. To get to System Restore, go to the Start menu to Help and Support and click on the link for System Restore. Choose “Restore my computer to an earlier time” and follow the software wizard to select a point in time on the computer before you installed SP2. Microsoft has several other methods for prying SP2 from your system. Go to http://support.microsoft.com and search the Knowledge Base for Article ID No. 875350 for further instructions.
