If they are impacted be prepared for anesthesia…….and be glad for it. You’ll look like you have a case of the mumps from the cheek swelling and likely have bruises on your face. It is painful and your mouth will be sore where the teeth were removed and your mouth from being propped open so long. It will hurt a lot for the first day or two, then start to decrease like any wound, but they’ll give you meds for that and you won’t mind. The thing you will notice the most is how different your mouth feels without them and when you touch the empty spaces with your tongue where the teeth where they will feel like craters. Don’t eat anything but soft foods until the soreness is gone and do not drink anything cold or hot, it’s like touching a nerve. Tepid or warm. Warm actually feels good. Gargle with warm salt water, helps get rid of any gunk left in the empty spaces. All in all not a terribly bad procedure.
