WITCHES DO NOT PREACH. WHY DO CHRISTIANS?
What Wiccans–and Christians–find odious about preaching is the affected tone, the speaking of the glorious as if it were a mere concept, and in general the phoniness of it. In this sense we hope never to “preach”, and do not like it either. But to discuss what we have known, have touched, believe in and live for, now that is another matter. To not do so, for us or you, would be a grave sin. No? There is much to be gleaned from other people’s wisdom. So why resent those who offer help in times of spiritual need? Thank God for the “preachers” at the crossroads of life! Often the most persuasive “preaching” is that which is unaware and natural. If it comes from “who we are” and not from concepts and dogma, then it is more forceful when spoken. “Preaching” in the worst sense is stilted and often cartoonish, and this should be avoided.
