Would a boxer dog kill a rabbit?
I have two boxers. They are both under two years old and are the sweetest dogs. Dogs though do have a prey instinct. Some have it more severe than others. A dog, when socialized correctly as a puppy, will usually not try to kill a prey animal such as a bunny but this is not always the case. My two boxers, my two cats and my husband and I have been living without any real problems since July. That is when we adopted the second boxer. She was 8 1/2 months old. We were told that she was fine with cats but we knew that she had a prey instinct from the moment she saw our cats. We had to keep our house seperated. Just last Monday the second boxer attacked one of our cats. It was the most horrific experience of my life. My husband and I were standing right there when the cat jumped over the gate and was brutally attacked. Boxers were bred with the intentions to attack prey and not let go.
