Would a PR voting system give British peoplle too much power?

A PR voting system, like others, has it’s benefits and it’s negatives. I mean one of the good points is that it prevents parties with only say 35% of the vote (such as Labour) from having the majority in Parliament and it is generally more fair to those who have a national spread of the vote (such as the Liberal Democrats who have 25% of the vote, only 10% less than Labour, but with only 10% of the seats under FPTP), whereas the bad points is that it tends to create a weak coalition government, and tends to help the rise of fringe parties such as the BNP. But PR is not the solution, it would only help. I don’t think that it would give to much power to the British people because, as usual, the democratic influence of the British people would still be limited to infrequent elections, or populist outlets such as pressure groups. The people would only benefit from the fact that they would be more fairly represented in parliament by the party they voted, and no votes would be wasted. And it
