Would Belkin 802.11g Wireless Ethernet Adapter Work wiresly with the ps3?

Well any wireless “gaming/ethernet” adapter should work. For wireless to work you do need the following. 1. An internet connection 2. A wireless router/access point 3. An adapter configured for your network (ethernet adapters are fine once they are properly setup and working with the network just plug them in.) If your network has a password you do indeed need to know what you set it too. 4. Your router properly forwards the ports needed for your PS3 (see http://portforward.com for help) The range of your router all depends on walls, internal interference etc. usually indoors they are good for 100 feet or so but it all depends on what is between you and the router.
