Would churches and religious groups be forced to hire GLBT persons?

No. South Bend Equality believes strongly in the separation of church and state and supports the exemption of religious groups from the proposed amendment. Some faith traditions affirm gay and transgendered persons and their relationships. Others do not. Regardless which side of the issue we may be on, we can all agree on this much—religious debates don’t belong in the workplace. Nor should the religious views of some be imposed on others. This amendment applies in the public arena. This is not a religious issue. This is not a conservative or liberal issue. It’s an issue of basic fairness . . and of economic sense.
