Would I need to take a day off work to have a dishwasher installed?

Why not have it delivered on a Saturday? Assuming that you’re replacing an existing dishwasher: When purchasing a new dishwasher, I would pay the extra charge to have the dealer deliver and install the new dishwasher, verify it’s installed correctly (no leaks), and haul away the old one. When appliances are on sale (and here in the U.S., they’ve been continuously on sale since January of this year), the delivery and installation are included at no charge (or rebated). These manufacturer-authorized delivery people have installed hundreds of dishwashers, they have solved every possible problem (your questions mentioned a possible tight fit), and they are SUPER fast. I’d be very surprised if the complete installation process took more than 15 or 20 minutes. If I attempted this myself (I’m an engineer), I’m sure I’d waste a couple hours on it, or worse. I just had a Maytag washer delivered & installed. Total time = 10 minutes, including a quick test, plus “walking” the old one up my baseme
