This partly depends on these main points: the plants that you'd like to grow, the conditions within your room the stage of the plants life, eg. seed germination, or mature culture I live in central England and grow many exotic plants indoors and generally give them minimal additional care, subject to my home being heated in winter time. Think also of large botanical gardens, such as Kew, where they have special grow areas, for differing types of plants, such as rain forest or arid conditions. These special zones may have altered temperatures and humidity levels, as well as some shading, in special cases. Smaller plants are easy to accommodate within a home environment, and different rooms will have varied conditions - some warmer, and some, such as bathrooms, potentially more humid. So, my advice is to research the plants that you'd like to grow, and then choose the closest match of the conditions in your available rooms.
