Some things are more expensive like junk food. But liquor and smokes are cheaper. Also you may need to budget for bottled water. Since not all homes are hooked into the water system. My fam uses rain water for EVERYTHING but drinking. My father and step mother moved there last August and they are in no way rich. It is just much more laid back then the states. It is very multicultural. My folks live in an area that is of moderate income so they live with the common folk. The rich people live in big gated mansions on hills and are far removed. But everyone I ran into was sooooooooo nice. Just remember you manners and clothes. They frown on people not saying hello and walking around half naked. I would say check out realtor.com for home prices… but I would HIGHLY recommend visiting first to make sure the laid back living (think waiting over a month for internet and tv since that’s kinda normal) but it is very VERY beautiful.
