Wouldn it have a greater impact if everyone used the money to specifically cut their carbon emissions?
It would have a different impact, for sure, but not necessarily greater. This return of $100 to everyone is a symbolic gesture and, while of course it will help if everyone spends their money on something to reduce their carbon emissions, it will not have a huge impact in curtailing climate change – the reality is a much, much greater problem. However, by pooling our resources and working to ensure we are building healthy and sustainable communities, we can potentially develop a more far-reaching response. Also, any funds donated can be leveraged to find other funds and create an even greater impact.
