A Yakov Smirnoff joke. How topical. He was talking about Soviet Russia, and political parties back then were very different. The point here is that aside from the United Russia party, Medvedev’s name was put on the ballot by the following parties: a Just Russia, the Agrarian Party, and Civil Force. Putin was the guy responsible for this. His support alone alone is enough to pretty much ensure Medvedev will be elected president. Q: I think I like United Russia the best. I’d vote for them. A: What? Q: When I hear that name I envision everyone living together with smiles on their faces, loving every minute of their lives in Russia. A: Don’t get all Doctor Zhivago on me.
