year old with tooth decay. Do I take him to the dentist?

My son had tooth decay & needed a cavity filled at age 23 months- I was so nervous! But it runs in my hubby's family & was bound to happen sooner or later. His first visit to the dentist was just to look at it, and he LOVED the dentist visit. I was nervous bc he is extremely energetic, and was a little nervous to open his mouth, but he got a balloon & ball to take home so they won him over real quick. The 2nd visit was to fill his cavity, and I was very surprised but they took him in the back & I didnt even get to go with him! They gave him a shot when he wasn't looking on the outside of his upper cheek after numbing the skin. They said he didnt even cry or see it bc they did it so quick & distracted him. He still loves the dentist and it went great!  more
