You had earlier said that Sahara Samay would have seven regional news channels. What is the status now?
A. At present, we have three regional channels in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai. Regional channels for Bihar, Rajashthan and Delhi are in pipeline and would be launched soon.Q. Recently, you had said that Sahara Samay’s UP channel is the no.1 channel in the state. What made you no.1 in UP? If that is true, why are you lagging behind in other states? And, how come the formula is not working at the national level?A. Yes, our regional channel is the leading channel in Uttar Pradesh. And we have beaten all other national news channels in the region. The organisation has pushed the regional channels very aggressively. Although Prabhat Dabral, who heads Sahara’s UP channel, will be the right person to comment on this, I will attribute the success to proper marketing and distribution push. As far as other states are concerned, a proper distribution push is lacking. You see, one can have the best content in this world, but you can’t go places without the right amount of push. Withou
