A. Because people abused this. They only did fanwork for a chance to win a game, which completely defeats the purpose of doing fanwork, which is something you do because you are a fan. You should not need some “prize” or “material possession” to do fanwork. You should do it only because you want to. I decided to cancel the contest and see if anyone would still submit fanwork: by doing so I’d see if there really were any dedicated fans out there, or if everyone was just greedy and only doing it to try to get their hands on a free game. Guess what? No one submitted anything after I removed the contest (except for a few close friends). This proved my point: people only did it to try to gain something material, not because they wanted to do it as a fan. Therefore, I decided to cancel the contest for good.
