You are correct. These are skater jeans. Skaster wear baggy pants, not skinnies. This is because baggy pants give better movement and skinnies rip if you fall off. The only "skaters" who wear skinny jeans are wannabes and scene kids. For similar

I always get the thickest pair of socks I own and wear them andt he shoes around the house walking us much as possible, the thickness of the socks helps stretch the shoes and no one gets to see how ridiculous you look and you can take the shoes off
