How many people started the 2009 Chicago Marathon and how many people finished it?
We’ve all heard stories that have inspired us to run 26.2 miles, and this year we asked you to share your story with us. We are excited to introduce inspiring stories from our 2009 open field of participants. This year’s featured Press Releases cover a diverse range of inspiring runners leaving their marks firmly in marathon history, including twin brothers vying for an Olympic Trials qualifying time while raising money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a busy mother of triplets, a woman who recruited a team of 50 runners and raised $50,000, a seasoned marathon runner attempting to run a marathon in all 50 states, an Iraqi war veteran blinded in combat and many more stories. In a field of 45,000 each participant toes the line for a different reason – some for a personal best, others for a charity and many just to finish. Whatever your reason for running, the following runners are sure to motivate, move, inspire and challenge you. September 30, 2009 – JEFF BENELLI BLIND OVERLAND PARK R
