Is it true that sonographers do not have to deal with blood or needles?
False. Sonographers participate in biopsy procedures, aspiration of body fluids and blood and other surgical procedures sometimes performed within the operating rooms. These procedures require the use of needles and expose the sonographer to blood and body fluids. Students are trained to properly handle bloodborne pathogens.
