In 2010, Channell graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, with a focus on visual communication.

His favorite films include Annie Hall, Wet Hot American Summer, King of New York, Cannibal! The Musical, Amelie and Brain Damage. Also, he spent his college years working at The Warner Theatre, a small movie-house in Morgantown, W.Va., where Don Knotts once worked as an usher.
