Banshee/Crazy White Russian

This is a favorite of my wife, who prefers sweet, fruity drinks that are not particularly strong. I, on the other hand, enjoy a sweet drink on occasion, but want to feel something after finishing the cocktail, so I will include my own variation, which I call the Crazy White Russian.

The name of the drink seems to imply that upon consumption one will become somewhat lycanthropic and will wail piercing cries of satisfaction if not lunacy, but regretfully this is not the case. If one follows the original recipe for the Banshee, one would have to have a lot more than one cocktail to achieve such a desired state of psychosis, and this drink is far too sweet to imbibe in quantity, so take my advice and follow my variation unless you are a Mormon who enjoys bending the rules only slightly.

Here’s what you do for a Banshee:

• Pre-chill a stemmed glass; use a mixing glass filled with ice to build the drink and add
• 1/2 oz. White Crème de Cacao
• 1/2 oz. Crème de Banana
• 2 oz. Cream
• Remove stemmed glass from freezer, rim with chocolate sprinkles or shavings (*optional*)
• Stir or shake the drink and pour into the stemmed glass through a cocktail strainer

Here’s what you do for a Crazy White Russian:

• Fill a tumbler glass with ice and add
• 1 oz. White Crème de Cacao
• 2 oz. Vodka
• 2 oz. Cream
• Pour it all into a blender and add half a banana.  Blend until smooth, pour back into the tumbler and serve
