    One way you can lose weight without losing your health is not starting an exercise program without talking to your doctor first and by not beginning an exercise routine too quickly or too harshly–especially if you haven’t exercised in a long time. In addition, by lowering the amount of food you eat each day and "upping" your exercise routine, you will be losing weight and losing it in a much healthier fashion. It is important to note that by making gradual changes in your diet such as eating only one muffin, instead of two or eating only half as much at supper time, you will be effective in holding on to these changes permanently in your life. The more you hold on to these small changes, the more they will become a part of your daily life.

    Start your exercise routine slowly. For instance, the first week you begin, begin with a 20 minute walk or 10 minutes of rowing. Then, the next week add on 5 more minutes to your routine. By starting out gradually and then building up the time in your exercise routine, you will increase the probability of continuing with your exercise routine. Other ways to add exercise to your life are by: using the stairs instead of taking the elevator, exercising or stretching during commercial breaks on TV or adding on 5 to 10 minutes of activity in the middle of the day when you have a break.

    Most importantly, be patient with yourself during your new diet and exercise routines. It takes time for these new changes to take effect–usually several weeks. Don’t become discouraged if the weight doesn’t come off quickly, because it takes time for the body to recognize these changes. But, if you’re patient and consistent with these new programs, you will lose weight and you will lose it in a healthier way.

    There are other things you can do so that you can lose weight and stay healthy such as never starving yourself. When you starve yourself you will feel overly hungry and you will soon lose interest in losing weight. Also, be sure to eat something at breakfast. This will help keep you motivated and gives your body energy–energy that you need for all your workday needs. Also, make sure that you drink plenty of water. Your body needs water to keep your organs in good shape, to keep your body hydrated and to flush out unneeded fat deposits.
