    Shenandoah National Park

    The best places to go camping are the places that offer not only the best scenery, but also incredible hiking trails and a bit of historical significance so that you can feel like a camping hipster. You don’t want to have to go somewhere that requires you to fly, since it will mean your camping gear has to be lugged around from airport to airport. You can generally drive up to about 500 miles for a good camping spot without feeling like a rotting corpse by the time you get out of the car.

    Yosemite National Park, California

    Made famous by Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, Yosemite is a great natural wonder filled with incredible waterfalls, historic mining sites, more than 400 species of vertebrates, hydrology, geology, and glaciology. You’ll need to make multiple trips to Yosemite to even scratch the surface of everything the insanely large national park has to offer.

    Glacier National Park, Montana

    Good news everyone! If you’ve ever wanted to visit an icy tundra, Glacier National Park in Montana comes pretty close, though a bit less desolate. Glacier is a hiker’s paradise with more than 700 miles of incredible trails with gorgeous views and quiet solitude among the icy wilderness. Enjoy a first-hand look at the ice ages as some of the glaciers date back to more than 10,000 years ago when the movie by Pixar was first filmed.

    Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

    If you don’t like animal encounters, you’ll hate Shenandoah, but if you love nature and wildlife, you shouldn’t pass up a chance to visit this national park. You’ll enjoy incredible hardwood forests and 500 miles of trails that include amazing views of waterfalls and tens of thousands of wildlife species. There is even rich history related to Native Americans that first hunted in the area and left artifacts for young Indiana Jones impersonators to discover.
