No, it’s not Christmas (or Andy Williams singing about Christmas), it’s the latest installment in the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins series, a rivalry that ranks up there with Yankees vs. Red Sox, Army vs. Navy and “Joe Versus The Volcano.” Before Redskins coach Joe Gibbs turned things around in 2005, Dallas was on a roll, having won 14 out of 15. The Redskins gave the Cowboys enough rope in these games, which invariably ended in a Hanging of the Greens – Darrell one year, Trent the next, and Donny and Jacquez later on for good measure. Joe Grinch put an end to all that, taking four out of six games over his final three seasons and making it difficult for a Cowboys fan like me to “be of good cheer.” But now Gibbs is back doing what he does worst – cheating at auto racing – and a gift-wrapped piece of fresh meat in the form of Jim Zorn has arrived.
