They are apple heads. Apple heads have shorter noses and broader heads; deer heads have longer noses and resemble a doberman. I hope your niece enjoys her puppy! Added: And pay no attention to those critisizing you about what those puppies look like/about not buying from a purebred breeder of repute. If this is a local breeder you trust, it does no matter what they think. And beyond that, this puppy is for your niece – I doubt she will be showing this puppy, so I would not worry about the puppy adhering perfectly to breed standards. Perfect purebreds often are not perfect, have poor temperment (especially chihuahuas, which are supposed to be fiesty), and many possible diseases that show up often in the breed. If this is a local breeder whose b**** does not whelp often, her puppies are likely to be healthier, better tempered, and live longer. Good luck!
