Are all the planets named after Greek gods?

0

The solar planets, other than earth, are named for Roman gods. (Typically each Roman god has a Greek counterpart, but we use the Roman names for the Roman gods, not the Greek names for the Greek ones). Here they are, each with one of their nicknames: Mercury – Messenger of the Gods Venus – Goddess of Love Mars – God of War Jupiter – King of the Gods Saturn – God of Peace Uranus – Father Sky Neptune – God of the Sea Pluto – God of the Underworld Earth doesn’t fit in this list, because the Roman Goddess is Terra Mater (Mother Earth), but our name Earth, like theirs comes from the word for earth (as in soil).
