Generic drugs are cheaper because the invested money to produce it is substantially lower than it would be for the original manufacture. Research and development is not necessary and the only effort put into producing the generic version would be producing the drugs. The generic drug manufacture will use the exact same ingredient list and will be produced in the same manner as the brand name version.
