Are prescriptions, psychiatric services and nursing home services covered in the financial assistance plan?
Prescriptions and nursing home care are not covered. Inpatient psychiatric services provided by Maimonides Medical Center facilities are covered, but a separate financial assistance program exists for outpatient mental health services. This depends on the person’s condition, since the diagnosis and capacity for work may not be related: a person with a serious diagnosis may be socially adapted, work, take care of themselves and their loved ones, while a relatively easy diagnosis may be accompanied by a serious condition and disability, comprehensive clinical and preventive services. The court should take into account the condition of the person, and not the fact of the diagnosis and registration in the dispensary.
