Are there many job opportunities in canada for filipino healthcare workers?
Unfortunitely, yes there are job opportunities. Mind you, the opportunities are fleeting since in many cases they get fired quickly. We just had 3 of them fired from a major hospital here in Edmonton for reasons ranging from dropping patients to not supervising them closely enough to mixing medications. Patients and their families have actually demanded new nurses or had themselves transfered to other hospitals (other then the Royal Alex) where there are no Filipino nurses. I’m not condemning them all, I’m sure there are good healthcare workers and bad regardless of where they are from, but it has been a problem at the one hospital lately.
