As a heritage/tourist operator, I am exempt from the requirement to conduct random drug and alcohol testing. Do I still need to have a drug and alcohol management program?
All accredited rail transport operators are required to have a drug and alcohol management program under the Rail Safety Act 2008. ITSR conducts random drug and alcohol testing of heritage operators. Heritage operators must have arrangements in place for testing in the event of an accident or irregular incident, such as an arrangement with the local police to attend an incident, and their programs must also provide for education, counselling and disciplinary procedures.
