Can a minor heart murmur in a baby cause heart problems in the future?
As a baby they should have re-assessed your heart murmur to make sure it had gone. It’s not a huge deal in the majority of children, sometimes it can mean a significant hole in the heart that needs operating on. Mostly it’s nothing, sorts itself out and it’s never an issue again! A high percentage of children are born with it, quite often it’s never even picked up on. If you have a fast heart rate this could be attributed to poor diet; lack of exercise; obesity. If you’ve always had it then it’s probably just the way you’re made! Everyones different, some people just have an increased heart rate, but if it’s normal for you then it’s nothing to worry about. If it’s concerning you, it’s stopping you from doing energetic activities or you experience any other worrying symptoms then ask your doctor or nurse for advice.
