Can Lyretail mollies breed with regular dalmations?
They will. Male and female Mollies can breed together regardless of color or variety. And yes, there are black Lyretails, and they have extended “tips” on their tails. However, most male Lyretail Mollies cannot breed because they often have a misshaped gonopodium. This is because the gonopodium itself is a fin, and in the process of creating the lyretail fins, their gonopodium becomes misshaped as well and are rendered useless. Basically, if you wanted to breed a Lyretail Molly with a non-Lyretail Molly, you’re better off if the Lyretail is the female, and the non-Lyretail a male.
