I really have no idea about this, but a) I’d imagine that if a rat got salmonella, it would probably die and I’d be hard pressed to think what you’d feed them for them to get salmonella b) the only time you may catch something from a rat (and they don’t carry lots of diseases despite their bad press) is if you ingest their poo, get bitten, or let them lick inside your mouth
