Do schizophrenics remember their loved ones?
It depends on the treatment your mom is getting. You might want to ask her doctor, or even call your own doctor and ask. I’ve had friends who are schizophrenic, and sometimes, after certain treatments, they don’t remember me, or what they said, etc. It sounds like your mom knows you now, so the memory lapse (loss) is probably short term, just for a period of time. It can be really hard having a loved one with a mental disease. You may feel alone or embarrassed to talk about it, or scared. There is nothing to be embarrassed about, and when someone you love is sick, it’s scary. Your mom’s doctor might be able to talk to you or hook you up with a group of other people who have family members who are bi-polar or schizophrenic. You aren’t alone, and there are other teens who have the same questions and fears you do, so talk to the doctor, look in the phone book for mental health providers or facilities and call them up and ask who you can talk to.
