Does my child need an appointment, or authorization for treatment for other orthopaedic conditions (non-fracture care)?

Other than fracture care, children with orthopaedic conditions require an appointment to be evaluated by an Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Group physician. Patients are seen in the Orthopaedic Hospital Outpatient Medical Center, adjacent to the Orthopaedic Medical Center Urgent Care. If your child has Managed Care Medi-Cal or private (HMO) insurance, you will need an authorization or referral to the Orthopaedic Hospital Medical Group physicians in the Orthopaedic Hospital Outpatient Medical Center. If your child has Fee-for-Service Medi-Cal, or PPO insurance no authorization is required. The Children’s Clinic Appointment phone number is: (213) 741-8330.
