How are course evaluations handled?
Students evaluate online courses using the standardized forms used for all courses. Additional questions pertaining to the process of taking the course in the alternative format have been added. The Students may also respond to the experience through the comment section. Individual course directors may have additional means to evaluate both the process of taking the course and student performance through the transcripts of chats, postings in folders, and e-mails. Evaluations for on-line courses are submitted on-line because students will not necessarily be expected to be on campus. We may want to institute procedures for evaluating delivery as well as content, and delineate whose area of responsibility this is. One of the goals of the Evaluation Committee this year is to identify the range of evaluation strategies appropriate for the alternative teaching methods. The Graduate Curriculum Committee has formed a subcommittee concerned with this area.
