HOW ARE PERFORMERS SELECTED FOR THE DETROIT MUSIC AWARDS SHOW?

Potential performers are selected by a committee of Advisory Council and Executive Board members. Please understand that there are a great many artists who wish to perform at the Detroit Music Awards and only a very small number can be accommodated. Basically, there are seven or eight slots available at a maximum. Some of our principal criteria are: • The ability of the artist to draw an audience. • The lack of overlap between the artist and the other acts that will be on the bill as we strive to present an array of diverse musical styles at the Detroit Music Awards show. • Public recognition and fame of the artist. • The quality of the artist (while this is somewhat subjective, we try to put on acts that represent the best in their respective genre). Selections are made by the Talent Committee, which submits recommendations to the Executive Board. The Executive Board makes the final decisions and is at liberty to reject any or all of the recommendations of the Talent Committee. Again,
