How did the Spanish protect themselves from fire ships in the Spanish Armada?
As the fire ships sent at them when they were anchored off the Dutch coast were so successful it would seem they had no protection when at anchor but as fire ships were not a new tactic I would have thought blocking ships would be used to counter them, perhaps the Spanish were complacent having made it through the English channel
