The assessment process should identify someone’s needs and the best way of meeting those needs. This will take account of their culture and religion. This will then be recorded in the care plan so that those providing care are clear about how to provide care in a culturally appropriate way. But the simple answer is to ask the person who is receiving the care. They or their family will tell you all you need to know if you simply ask and demonstrate the willingness to respect their practices.
