How Do You Avoid Being Hurt By Pesticides & Herbicides?
Pesticides and herbicides are helpful in eradicating unwanted insects and plants and fungi that inhabit our landscapes. While beneficial, these chemicals have the potential to be dangerous to humans and animals, and the danger increases if you handle these products inappropriately. Take extreme care when using any type of pesticide or herbicide, and follow the manufacturer’s directions closely to avoid injury or death. Wear protective clothing when handling the products, such as safety goggles; long-sleeved shirt and long pants; impermeable gloves; and closed-toe, non-porous shoes or rubber boots. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) you should change your clothes and immediately wash your hands after you complete the product application.
