How Do You Change The Valve Cover Gasket On A 2000 Plymouth Neon?

0

The valve cover gasket in a 2000 Plymouth Neon keeps oil from leaking into the spark plug wells, as well as keeping engine oil from leaking down the side of the engine. When you have an oil leak in the Neon, one of the first places to check is the valve cover gasket. If you notice any oil on the head (the upper part of the engine) of the engine, it’s time to replace the valve cover gasket. Remove the retaining nuts on the valve cover gasket perimeter. Pull the valve cover off the engine head. Clean the valve cover and engine head mating surfaces using a razor blade, engine degreaser and shop rags. Apply a bead of RTV sealant to the mating surfaces of the valve cover and the engine head. Press the valve cover gasket to the head of the engine. Press the valve cover to the engine head and tighten the retaining nuts.
